At the heart of this brand's story lies the genius of Sidney George Brown (1873–1948), a talented electrical engineer and inventor. In 1906, he founded the Telegraph Condenser Co., a company he owned and operated until his retirement in 1943. This venture served as the launchpad for many of his groundbreaking inventions. As the name suggests, the company focused primarily on the burgeoning field of telegraphy and on the production and marketing of Brown's innovative devices.

Recognizing the potential of the telephone industry early on, Brown established SG Brown Ltd. in November 1911 to manufacture telephones. This new venture thrived in the years that followed. Brown himself developed several key innovations that shaped the future of communication, including the telephone relay, multiple improvements to receivers, and even the now-common term "loudspeaker."

And that brings us to our exhibit: an external loudspeaker for a radio, crafted in the mid-1920s.
