This unique tape recorder with its distinctive tape cartridge was launched in 1964. It was designed to serve as a dictation device and was therefore referred to at the time as an “electronic notebook.” Because it was relatively small, lightweight, and fully transistorized for its era, it became an ideal tool for managers, doctors, or sales representatives.

Instead of traditional reels, it used two small spools housed in a simple interchangeable cassette, which allowed for 2×22 minutes of recording. This was a revolutionary solution even before the arrival of the Philips Compact Cassette.

The EN 3 model featured very simple controls and could even be operated with one hand. Its detachable microphone also functioned as a speaker, which was both practical and elegant. Its unmatched simplicity and reliability catapulted it among the most sought-after office tools of its time.
