This Swiss-style polyphon, housed in a stunningly curved and richly veneered cabinet, dates back to the late 19th century.

Its mechanism operates on the force of a tightly wound steel spring, which is manually wound using a front-mounted lever. A selected disc with encoded music is placed on top, and a securing arm is lowered over it. As the disc rotates, precisely positioned protrusions pluck finely tuned metal tines, producing the polyphon’s distinctive, celestial music-box sound.

Beyond its remarkable musical mechanism, this piece is truly unique for its exquisite design. When seen in well-preserved condition, it is a delight not only for the ears but also for the eyes.
