The Uher 6000 Report Universal is a top-tier portable tape recorder from the late 1980s that gained popularity among journalists, documentarians, and tech enthusiasts. It was designed as a universal tool for recording audio in the field – from interviews to synchronization with projectors.

Precise and stable tape transport is ensured by a four-motor drive: one motor for the capstan, two for tape winding with electronic tension control, and a servo motor for the pinch roller.

The device features three heads, allowing for recording, playback, and real-time monitoring of the recording (known as “hinterbandkontrolle”).

It also boasts automatic level control (ALC), the VAC system for acoustic optimization, and DNR for noise reduction. Power is supplied only from a built-in rechargeable battery or via a mains adapter – with no option to use standard batteries.
